Greetings and Welcome to Myth Hunt! A cooperative adventure game that brings together a group of heroes from Greek myth to battle monsters across the islands of Greece.
Objective
Design a board game that features a fully realized brand identity in addition to component and packaging design.
The Box
The box for the game is composed of iconography from Greek myth including a traditionally Grecian blade and shield. In addition, the sides of the bottom portion contain a snake encircling the whole box. This serves as an allusion to one of the game's bosses, Ouroboros, which itself represents death and rebirth, a core tenet of the game.
The Board
The board finds players dropped in to the islands of Greece in which they have to progress through the region by slaying monsters that stand in their path. The board features a recreation of Greece with varying tints and shades of green to denote regional variations. These changes are also denoted by the incorporation of natural landmarks such as trees and mountains.
Cards
During the game, players will gradually accumulate cards. These cards can have both positive and negative effects. HP Cards are denoted by the color blue and restore health to a player if they have taken damage from a monster. Damage Cards have two different effects. Positive represented by green and negative represented by purple. The Positive cards feature weapons such as a daggers, swords, and tridents. Drawing one of these cards restores a player's health by however many points is denoted on the card. The Negative cards showcase effects such as poison, a broken sword, and a monster attack. These will take away points from the player's health.
Player Tokens
At the start of the game, players will select one of four heroes from Greek myth. The four featured heroes are Perseus, Odysseus, Hercules, and Achilles. In order to fit the Greek myth aesthetic, the player tokens were modeled after Greek coins. The tokens feature depictions of the heroes in profile view and would be produced slightly raised.
Boss Tokens
Over the course of the game, players will encounter a total of four spaces in which they will encounter a boss monster. These bosses come in a variety of difficulties from Low to High. Players will randomly draw one and then have to defeat it in order to progress further. The monsters selected were based on their relevance and prevalence within Greek myths.
Brand Identity
The brand identity was designed to focus on the iconography and style commonly associated with Greek myth. This included a color palette highlighting this theme and the more naturalistic elements present within the setting of the game.
